E.M.A.L.S. Receives Above Average Evaluation

“The W. M. Schlosser Company Incorporated has been on contract with General Atomics for the construction of an experimental project at Lakehurst, NJ for eight months.  During this period the following attributes describe overall performance.

Pre-construction conferences and site visits were well attended and thorough.  Job site mobilization was timely and work progressed on schedule.  Following start-up, an extremely harsh winter caused considerable delay, but the on site management team has managed to recover much of the lost time.  Subcontractor management is satisfactory, as is adherence to plans and specifications.  Schlosser is environmentally conscious and has complied with applicable codes.  Field supervision is outstanding and change order management is acceptable.

Overall, I would rate W.M. Schlosser Co. well above average with final Judgment reserved for project completion.  At this juncture I would recommend this company for complex construction tasks given their ability to manage a variety of sub-contractors on this complex project.”

To Whom It May Concern:

The Town of La Plata has recently completed a significant renovation to its sewer treatment plant.  The project was extremely complex and cost close to ten million dollars.  The scope of the project was to upgrade the old plant in three general areas.  First, the plant's capacity was enlarged from 1.0 MGD (million gallons per day) to 1.5 MGD expandable to 2.5 MGD.  The base infrastructure was sized to the 2.5 MGD capacity.  Second, most of the plant's old and obsolete components were replaced.  Third the process was changed from an Activated Sludge process to a Biological Nutrient Removal process.  All of this was done while the existing plant continued in operation.

We appreciate the fact that W. M. Schlosser Company was the contractor on this project.  Their personnel understood our operational needs and worked around them.  Their personnel also had a commitment to building a quality plant and worked with the Town and our engineer to accomplish this goal.  We specifically enjoyed working with Sejal Barot and Jack Gumtow.

Sincerely,

Douglas R. Miller, Town Manager, Town of La Plata
