Project Description:
This project involved the construction of a new Transit Center Building, a covered canopy bus transfer platform, clock tower, extensive paving, landscaping and sitework. The clock tower was over 50 feet high with an internal spiral stairway.
Site work included clearing, environmental removals, utilities, decorative and stamped paving (colored and exposed aggregate, vehicular paving, decorative fencing, solid barrier walls, irrigation and signalization work. Hazardous material removal involved asbestos, lead, PCB, and mercury. There were custom precast elements throughout the project. The building entailed special finishes, such as linear metal ceilings, terrazzo and embedded zinc rails. There were also elaborate decorative metalwork, including ornamental grilles and sliding doors; windscreens; spiral stairs; ornamental rails.. Electrically, there were several systems including television distribution, public address, computer network, rescue assistant signal system, access control, intrusion detection, CCTV systems and fire detection and alarm. The building included public spaces such as a coffee shop, atrium and concourse, tourism and information shop, passenger waiting area, credit office, ticketing rooms, library, and other spaces.
